TESTIMONIALS

"I was impressed by how many homeschool families attended and how welcoming Maria was! It was really encouraging.
I personally gained a sense of community and comfort coming to the classes with my children. Being around people with the same goals helps to remind us that what we are doing is worth it!"

-Alyssa

"This program has been life-changing for our family.

We have found a place we feel accepted. Having something reoccur week after week, added a new excitement to our schedule and enjoyed the new classes.

My son immediately felt comfortable and bonded. It was a great thing to see, and I personally have gained a friendship of the same values. "

-Stephanie

"My daughter was very excited to attend the classes and always had a positive experience.
She loved learning with Maria, and she felt like she made friends quickly there.
I feel like I gained deeper friendships/support. I also just enjoyed watching Maria interact with the students and watch them light up with her. For anyone considering joining I would say, it's a positive and beneficial experience for both the parent and the child. It’s helping to create lasting friendships."

-Hannah

"Attending these classes has given her socialization and the confidence to make new friends. I would tell someone considering the class series to add it to your homeschool week! It's a great example of teaching structure and socializing with other homeschool moms.
We always look forward to your class and are very happy you are continuing with another course. "

-Melody

FAQs

When and where are the classes held?

Classes run for 5 weeks at a time, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:15 - 11:45 AM. Class is in the studio in Scarborough Maine and various outdoor locations in the area on select Thursdays.

What age group is this program suitable for?

The program is designed for children ages 5-13. Yet I welcome siblings who are older or younger to join the children you enroll. Family is one of our top core values.

My child is 5 still, can I sign them up?

YES! (Isn't it nice when the answer is yes sometimes?) You are welcome to bring your 5-year-old, they usually keep up really well and this experience is transformational to them and the entire group - for so many reasons. Additionally, joining us at this stage is really helpful for mothers who want to connect and start building community with other homeschooling families.

Do I have to enroll for all 5 weeks?

Yes, this is a community class meant to foster growing friendships and allow us time to build onto what is being taught each week. Beyond academics and building skills faster this way; building bonds between the kids is a goal, so the time spent consistently together creates foundations for lasting friendships. This is true for parents and students. If the TUES or THURS 10:15-11:45 time doesn't work your family this season, you are welcome to pre-register for a different series later in the year.

Why Mixed Ages? How does that work?

To model family style learning to all participants and parents this group-led model provides a classroom, family-friendly experience. Usually, the 6–8-year-olds lead the conversation (they don’t stop talking or moving - and that’s okay), while older kids model good behavior, parents assist where needed and littles are around too. I lead the way with calming, going with the flow teaching strategies and techniques while executing the lesson plans. It’s a balance and art.

What will my child learn?

Children will learn practical life and developmental skills that will support their academic learning abilities. While exploring various themes and topics like leaf identification, mindful coping strategies for hard times, learning about healthy foods and ingredients to avoid, bird watching, and learning about culture through foods, and arts. Beyond the lessons, your child with learn listening, social-emotional (the real kind), and leadership skills - ALL RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, because you stay.

What should my child bring to class?

Children should bring the tools I provide them at the beginning of the series (or I will hang on to them until the end). Often, I will have a show and tell integrated so I will notify you of that special thing to bring, and you are welcome to bring a dish to our end of the series potluck; but I will provide materials for all the activities I plan.

Are there any outdoor activities?

Yes, Thursdays include outdoor exploration field trips in the 'real world'. Many of the times we are outside, in the winter months we find organizations, business, and places to visit inside or use our classroom if that's needed.

Is this a drop-off program?

No. You bring your child (and other children too), and everyone benefits from the experience and has the opportunity to make friends and learn in this program. Many parents have found that they learn a lot from watching the way I teach and having the opportunity to observe their children thrive in this class setting with friends.

What is expected of me as a parent?

Download Telegram App to keep up with notification in our private community chat. Little to nothing - besides to be your child's chaperone. Many parents pitch in to fold up chairs and help me move tables at the end, if I need an extra hand. You are always welcome to bring extra materials or food to add to the parties (sometimes we have POTLUCKS or extended days where we Bring Your Own Lunch on Thursdays). All announcements and finer details are given upon enrollment.
